Hotel. Nestled in Spain’s winemaking region of La Rioja, Real Casona de las Amas embodies all that this great country has to offer. From wine tasting to museum visits, this 17th century residence offers its guests the tranquility of a country getaway as well as the excitement of Spanish culture. Once the home of a Spanish noble, the coats of arms erected along the façade act as constant reminders of this home’s previous tenants. But do not be discouraged by the rustic appearance. Although you may feel as if you have descended back in time, modern renovations – and rainfall massage showers - have transported this home into the new millennium.
Wine. In a time when the world constantly changes, the one constant pleasure of La Rioja lies in its vines. Guests of Real Casona de las Amas can access any number of vineyards and cellars in the region and also get a little wine education through the various museums in the area. With access to over 500 wineries, the possibilities are endless.
Dining. Although Real Casona de las Amas does not house its own restaurant, the town of Azofra has much to offer in terms of gastronomy. By reflecting the vast landscapes of La Rioja, the region has evolved its own themes in cuisine. Rich sausages and other meats make up the mountain cuisine, while riverside cuisine consists of lighter fresh foods including produce and tender lamb. Staying true to Spanish form, going for tapas around the hotel is also a favorite.
